Backpacker has released their 20 Bucket List Hiking Trips to Take in 2020. I love Backpacker, however, being a resident of the Northeast, many of the adventures in the magazine seem out of reach, mostly located in the West. I do not blame them, the West is amazing and I hope to get there some day.

This year’s list surprised me, it really spread out the trips throughout the country (and beyond). The list has some classic bucket list trips like Climbing Mount Rainier, the Kalalau Trail in Hawaii, and the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim.

It is great to see that they gave a nod to some of our Northeast gems. Backpacker highlights the Presidential Range and its great hut system. They also give proper respect to the Adirondack Mountains listing a trip to climb Marcy, Gray, and Skylight.
Unfortunately, I have hiked both the Prezi’s and Marcy, Gray and Skylight. However, this does not deter me from ranking some of Backpacker‘s trips on my bucket list. I’d love to do them all, but here is my prioritized list:
- Grand Canyon Rim to Rim (to Rim)
- Mackinac Island (on our way to the Upper Peninsula)
- Hike the John Muir Trail
- Climb Mount Rainier
- Hike the Kalalau Trail
- Trek the Inca Trail
Of course, there are other things on my bucket list, but these six intersect with Backpacker’s list. What’s on your bucket list?
