Winter Adirondack Mountain Adventure

Winter in the mountains is a special time. I like to say, “No mud, no rocks, no bears, no bugs, & fewer people.” However, winter mountaineering requires a higher level of fitness and specialized gear. This Adirondack High Peaks trip is designed for intermediate to advanced High Peaks hikers with excellent hiking fitness.
3-Season High Peaks experience and proper winter gear (see checklist) are required for this trip.
We recommend mountaineering-style snowshoes like MSR EVO, REVO, or Lightning, Tubbs FLEX, or Atlas Helium.
We will enjoy two days of climbing to winter summits. The itinerary is dependent on the group and the weather. The proposed climbs are:
- Cascade & Porter Mountains
- Whiteface & Esther Mountains
Other potential mountains are:
- Phelps Mountain
- Big Slide Mountain
- Giant Mountain & Rocky Peak Ridge
- Lower & Upper Wolfjaw Mountains
- Catamount Mountain
- Hurricane Mountain
* Mountains may change based on the group preferences and weather. If you have a strong preference of mountains, please let us know.
