Intermediate Adirondack High Peaks Trip (August 2026)

It’s time to get after it with one of our favorite hikes in the High Peaks, part of the MacIntyre Range (Algonquin & Iroquois). We will follow up these incredible mountains with one of the best views in the Adirondacks on Mount Colden.

These are some big mountains. It will take some effort to get to the summits, but the views from these rocky peaks will be unforgettable.

What’s not included:

• Dinners
• Lunches and trail snacks. Trail lunches can be purchased from the Loj.
• Transportation to Lake Placid
• Gratuity for your guides

Accommodations

We will be staying at the Adirondak Loj at ADK’s Heart Lake Program Center. Our group is occupying the 12-person co-ed loft. Each participant will have a single bed and use of the shared bathrooms. Parking is included.

Itinerary

Thursday 8/27: Travel to Lake Placid, check-in, evening “briefing” and optional Mt. Jo hike.
Friday 8/28 : Climb Algonquin & Iroquois Peaks (9.9 miles, 3823′ elevation)
Saturday 8/29: Climb Mount Colden  (12 miles, 2944′ elevation)
Sunday 8/30: Check-out, travel home

Costs

$649 per person ($669 if paying by credit card) includes bed at Adirondak Loj, parking, breakfast Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and guide services with NYS Licensed Guides.
We will hold a pre-trip Zoom session to go over logistics.
Travel and food (dinners, lunches, and trail snacks) are the responsibility of the participants.
Registration deadline is July 1, 2026.

Checks must be received within 2-weeks of purchase to secure a spot on the trip unless special arrangements are made.

Trip Notes

This trip demands a high level of physical fitness in order to complete it within the available daylight hours. Outside Chronicles reserves the right to deny participation if group safety will be compromised through an individual’s participation.  Outside Chronicles reserves the right to adjust the trip itinerary to match the skills, abilities, and goals of the group.

Prior hiking experience is required. Participants will be screened to make sure they meet a minimum fitness level to make the trip successful and enjoyable.

Hikers can choose to do one or both mountain hikes.

Good physical condition, proper clothing, proper footwear, and proper equipment are a must.

Cancellation Policy:

A full refund minus the 3% payment processing fee will be given for a cancellation requests prior to the registration deadline (7/21/2026). Payments are NOT refundable past the registration deadline.

A minimum number of participants is required for this trip to run.
