The leaves turn early in the Adirondacks. They should be colorful for this trip. We will tackle 4 high peaks. Each day we have a steady climb right from the trailhead. We are going to hike Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge and follow it up with Whiteface and Esther.

Accommodations

VRBO Property near Wilmington, NY. Hikers will be assigned a queen or twin bed based on the group. Some rooms have multiple beds. The property has 5 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms, a washer & dryer, full kitchen, grill, patio, & hot tub.

Itinerary

Thursday 9/24: Travel to Lake Placid, check-in, evening “briefing” and optional hike. Friday 9/25 : Climb Giant Mountain and Rocky Peak Ridge (7.8 miles, 4400′ elevation) Saturday 9/26: Climb Whiteface and Esther Mountains  (9.8 miles, 3700′ elevation) Sunday 9/27: Check-out, travel home

Costs

$719 per person includes bed at VRBO Property, dinner Friday and Saturday, and guide services with NYS Licensed Guides. We will hold a pre-trip Zoom session to go over logistics. Travel and food (breakfasts, lunches, and trail snacks) are the responsibility of the participants. Registration deadline is August 1, 2026.

Trip Notes

This trip demands a high level of physical fitness in order to complete it within the available daylight hours. Outside Chronicles reserves the right to deny participation if group safety will be compromised through an individual’s participation.  Outside Chronicles reserves the right to adjust the trip itinerary to match the skills, abilities, and goals of the group. Prior hiking experience is required. Participants will be screened to make sure they meet a minimum fitness level to make the trip successful and enjoyable. Hikers can choose to do one or both mountain hikes. Good physical condition, proper clothing, proper footwear, and proper equipment are a must.

Cancellation Policy:

A full refund minus the 3% payment processing fee will be given for a cancellation requests prior to the registration deadline (8/1/2026). Payments are NOT refundable past the registration deadline. A minimum number of participants is required for this trip to run.
