Niagara Frontier Search and Rescue (NFSAR) & Outside Chronicles invite you to an exciting and informative Search & Rescue Demo Day!

Are you a hiker, camper, or outdoor enthusiast who wants to learn how search and rescue teams operate in the field? This is your chance to see real-life SAR techniques in action and meet the dedicated volunteers who serve the Niagara Frontier region.

Join us for a hands-on learning experience where you’ll get an up-close look at the skills and equipment essential to saving lives in the wilderness.

What You’ll Experience:

We’ll have three interactive stations for you to explore:

1. K-9 Demonstration: Witness the incredible skill and teamwork between our handlers and their highly trained Search Dogs. You’ll see how these amazing animals use their sense of smell to track and locate missing persons, often in challenging terrain.
2. Rope Rescue Demonstration: Learn about the physics and precision involved in technical rescues. Watch as our team demonstrates the rigging and execution of a safe rope system—a vital technique for accessing and recovering people from steep slopes or deep ravines.
3. Mock Search & Rescue: Become an observer in a simulated mission! Our team will walk you through a “mock” search operation from initial briefing to deployment, demonstrating the critical steps in planning, communication, and executing a successful search.
