DESCRIPTION:When faced with an injury or sudden illness in a remote location it is critical to know what to look for and how to respond.  This 16-Hour Wilderness First Aid (WFA) class is a comprehensive course on how to handle common injuries and illnesses when medical care is an hour or more away. Knowledge of WFA is essential for those who recreate in remote locations.  This course will cover the most current practice guidelines and assessment best practices and will prepare you to make essential decisions and implement the appropriate procedures. \nCourse topics include: \n\nPrimary and Secondary Assessments\nHead/Brain\, Neck and Spinal Injuries\nHeat-Related Emergencies\nHypothermia\nAltitude-Related Illnesses\nAllergies and Anaphylaxis\nBurns\nMusculoskeletal Injuries\nWounds and Wound Infection\nEmergency and Evacuation Plans\nBuilding a proper wilderness first aid kit\n\nCourse Format: In person\, mixture of classroom discussion\, skills practice\, scenario-based learning\, and independent reading. \nCourse Duration: 8:30am – 4:00pm each day \nUpon successful completion of this course students will receive an internationally recognized ECSI certification in Wilderness First Aid and Adult\, Child\, and Infant CPR/AED. \nCancellation Policy: \nA full refund minus the 3% payment processing fee will be given for a cancellation request more than 7 days prior to the scheduled event. A 50% refund minus the 3% payment processing fee will be given for cancellations less than 7 days but more than 48 hours prior the scheduled event.
