Tracy Ridge is located in Allegheny National Forest. This will be a great opportunity to enjoy fall foliage on the Kinzua Reservoir.  We will hike approximately 3 miles on Friday to our first camp, 6.5mi on Saturday to Camp 2, and 7.5mi on Sunday.  We will be following the “Solitude Trail” as described by NCT.  The total trip will be 16.5mi.

Pre-Trip (Zoom)

First Day (approx 4mi)

• Meet at trailhead (If you are on time, you are late!)
• Introductions
• Distribute group gear
• Check personal gear, supplies, adjust backpacks & make final plans
• Begin hiking
• Learn and discuss basic land navigation, water treatment, and first aid
• Arrive at camp, learn and discuss campsite selection, campsite setup, bear bag hanging, fire starting (if regulations allow)
• Dinner and clean-up
• Campfire and treats
• Personal time/lights out

Second Day (approx 6.5mi)

• Breakfast and clean-up
• Campsite breakdown
• Hike to second campsite with lunch on the trail
• Arrive at camp, more instruction
• Dinner and clean-up
• Campfire and treats
• Personal time/lights out

Third Day (approx 7.5mi)

• Breakfast and clean-up
• Campsite breakdown
• Hike out
• Farewells and decide on next adventure
• Be home before the 8:20pm Bills game!

A minimum number of participants is required for this trip to run.

The trip is dependent on weather. We will not make you sleep through a thunderstorm if we can avoid it.  The rain date is TBD.

** Trip includes a Licensed, Insured NYS Guide, group camp gear (stoves, water purification, and first aid).  Participants are required to bring their own backpacking gear including tents, sleep systems, and food.  If you need any gear, please let us know by contacting Mike@outsidechronicles.com.

Cancellation Policy:

A full refund minus the 3% payment processing fee will be given for a cancellation request more than 7 days prior to the scheduled event. A 50% refund minus the 3% payment processing fee will be given for cancellations less than 7 days but more than 48 hours prior the scheduled event. No shows or cancellations less than 48 hours of the scheduled event will not be refunded.
